quick-workouts-for-moms-on-the-go

When life gets hectic, especially for moms like me with multiple little ones to shuttle from place to place, it’s easy to let working out go by the wayside. There just isn’t enough time in the day and something’s gotta give, right? Wrong.

As a busy mom myself, I know my health is absolutely essential and working out will keep me going all week long. That’s why I try to take a little bit of time for it every single day. Well, that and I get an excuse to rock one of my cute fitness headbands, but that’s a whole other story.

While many people may think working out is a huge production that takes more time than it’s worth, I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be. Here’s a few of my favorite quick workout go-tos that I can do at home, at the office, or even while I’m watching my kids practice at the gym. (And the kicker is all of these combined take less than 10 minutes!)

Body Dips

This one’s so easy you can even do it while watching television at night. Simply sit at the edge of a chair with your hands next to your hips, slide forward until your bottom is off the edge and bend your elbows to a 90 degree angle. Repeat for a minute or until you’ve completed 10 to 12 repetitions.

Lifting Weights

Don’t have a set of weights at home? No problem! Start small if you need to by lifting soup cans or bags of frozen vegetables. Then, make it a game and lift other items around your house: a chair, a lamp, even your kids! Just make sure to keep your back straight and slowly lift with your arms.

Step-Ups

Yes, it’s as simple as the name implies. Just place one foot on a sturdy platform and step up with the other leg. Then, step back down, reaching back roughly 12 inches. Repeat 10 to 12 times with each leg. If this isn’t advanced enough, add weights (or soup cans) for additional strength training benefits.

Skipping Rope

If you have a jump rope handy, get skipping. It’s a great way to play with your kids, but it’s also great exercise, too. If you don’t have a rope readily available, it’s easy to pretend that you’re skipping rope and still get the same benefits.

Get Movin!

No matter what you do, some movement is always better than no movement at all. These quick go-tos are a life changer and I promise you won’t regret taking a few minutes (less than 10) each day to incorporate them into your routine.
