The December UrbanHero subscription project benefited Sojourner, an organization offering emergency services, shelter, community legal advocacy and outreach programs to victims of domestic abuse in the Twin Cities area. Every December, Sojourner transforms their boardroom into a boutique. Christmas music and decorations create a festive shopping experience for the women Sojourner serves allowing them to select gifts and necessities for their families. Complete with a wrapping station, this boutique provides the women an opportunity to give their families a few gifts at Christmas. The boutique doesn’t happen without the donations of generous people in the community. Thank you to our UrbanHeros for helping UrbanHalo provide gift cards, toys, pajamas, movies and so much more to Sojourner’s boutique.

The need for Sojourner’s services is great. Their shelter provides a home for 20-22 victims of domestic abuse with an average stay lasting 30-60 days. Last year over 900 women received legal help from Sojourner with such things as orders of protection. Sojourner also provides outreach and prevention programs helping to create safer communities.
