Summer is just around the corner. For some kids that means an opportunity to participate in summer camps. My daughter and I just returned from a Mother/Daughter retreat at camp and not much tops our list of things we look forward to each year like that weekend away. Campfire donuts, crafts, outdoor activities galore…what’s not to love?! But, for many kids, especially those in the foster care system, camp will never be something they experience.

In the months of May and June, we will be helping change that reality by partnering with Royal Family Kids! This nonprofit organization wants to send every child in the foster system to summer camp. With camps located in many states throughout the US, they are able to send these kids who have experienced abuse, neglect, forgotten birthdays, fear, and hurt that no child should ever know, to a week away where they can just e a kid. Beside all of the fun that camp has to offer, their birthdays are celebrated and most importantly, they are loved on in a safe environment by adults trained to meet the specific needs of these kids.
